"ars longa, vita brevis"
For most of my life, I have been exploring different mediums of art, but photography has always been my truest form of expression. I began my journey in my teens with a Canon point-and-shoot camera, later upgrading to my first DSLR in high school. In college, I discovered my father's 35mm camera, which sparked my passion for film photography. This led me to pursue an Associate of Arts degree in Visual Fine Arts, concentrating on both illustration and photography. With a blend of self-taught experience and professional training, I became deeply enamored with the process of film photography and now shoot almost exclusively medium format film.
Art has always served as a means for me to process my thoughts and emotions, especially after the trauma of losing my father at a young age. Growing up, I struggled to articulate my feelings, so I turned to the lens to express what words could not. Photography became my personal language—allowing me to understand myself and the world around me. As a sentimental person, I find comfort in capturing moments, knowing they will preserve memories for reflection and introspection. my favorite quote that I live by as an artist is "ars longa, vita brevis", meaning, ART IS LONG AND LIFE IS SHORT. SOME INTERPRET this as art can take a life long to master, but to me, this quote has always meant that art is forever, while life is not.
My work primarily focuses on photographing decaying and forgotten places, finding beauty in the overlooked and the unexpected, as well as capturing moments of human expression. Through my images, I hope to provoke questions and inspire contemplation about the transient nature of life and the overlooked beauty that surrounds us.
i am based in providence, Rhode Island but always love to travel to new places.
